我们熟悉的"灰姑娘"（玻璃鞋、南瓜马车、仙女教母）来自法国作家佩罗1697年的童话集《鹅妈妈的故事》，跟"睡美人"出自同一本书，1950年迪士尼动画正是采用了这个版本。但这个故事的最早记载能追溯到公元1世纪——古希腊人在埃及写下的一则传说，距今已近两千年，是全世界流传最广的民间故事母题之一；后来德国格林兄弟1812年收录的版本情节略有不同，帮忙的不是仙女教母而是两只白鸽，鞋子也是金鞋而非玻璃鞋。

The Cinderella we know — the glass slipper, the pumpkin carriage, the fairy godmother — comes from French writer Charles Perrault's 1697 fairy tale collection, Mother Goose Tales, the same book that gave us Sleeping Beauty, and it's this version Disney's 1950 animated film followed. But the earliest known record of this story dates back to the 1st century CE — a tale written down by a Greek author in Egypt nearly two thousand years ago, making it one of the world's most widespread folk-tale motifs; the later German Grimm Brothers version, collected in 1812, differs in a few details — two white doves help instead of a fairy godmother, and the slipper is gold rather than glass.
