The most systematic account of the Twelve Labours of Heracles is in the Library, a collection of Greek myths by the writer Apollodorus. As early as around 460 BC, the twelve labours were carved on twelve stone panels at the Temple of Zeus at Olympia, six at each end of the temple.

古罗马人把赫拉克勒斯叫作「赫丘利」，英语里的Hercules就是从这里来的，夜空中还有一个以他命名的武仙座。直布罗陀海峡两岸的山岩，古人称为「赫拉克勒斯之柱」，传说是他在完成任务的路上立下的。

The Romans called Heracles Hercules, which is where the English name comes from, and there is a constellation named after him in the night sky. The rocks on either side of the Strait of Gibraltar were called the Pillars of Hercules by ancient people, said to have been set up by him on one of his labours.
