In the Andes Mountains of South America, the Inca people believed the sun god Inti was the source of all things, the most exalted deity of the Inca Empire. This belief remains vividly alive today — every June, a grand Inti Raymi celebration is still held in Cusco, Peru, and many Indigenous communities across the Andes still cherish this ancient reverence for the sun.

印加人的传说里，太阳神因蒂派他的一对儿女曼科·卡帕克和玛玛·奥克略，从的的喀喀湖出发，带着一根黄金权杖寻找建都的地方，在权杖能整根插进土里的地方，建起了库斯科。这个传说记录在1609年印加加西拉索·德拉维加的《印卡王室述评》里。

In Inca legend, the sun god Inti sent his son and daughter, Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo, from Lake Titicaca with a golden staff to find a place for a capital; where the whole staff sank into the ground, they founded Cusco. The legend is recorded in the Royal Commentaries of the Incas by Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, published in 1609.
