伊凡王子与火鸟的故事，收在民俗学家阿法纳西耶夫的《俄罗斯民间故事集》里，原名《伊凡王子、火鸟和灰狼》。故事里的「伊凡王子」，是俄罗斯民间故事里最常见的主人公之一。

The story of Ivan Tsarevich and the Firebird is in the Russian Folk Tales collected by the folklorist Alexander Afanasyev, under the title Ivan Tsarevich, the Firebird and the Grey Wolf. Ivan Tsarevich, Prince Ivan, is one of the most common heroes of Russian folk tales.

1910年6月，俄罗斯作曲家斯特拉文斯基创作的芭蕾舞剧《火鸟》在巴黎首演，他也因此一举成名。火鸟从此成为俄罗斯文化的象征之一，常常出现在漆盒、邮票和童话插画里。

In June 1910, the ballet The Firebird by the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky premiered in Paris and made him famous overnight. Since then the firebird has become one of the symbols of Russian culture, often appearing on lacquer boxes, stamps and fairy tale illustrations.
