15世纪初，明朝皇帝派遣了一位名叫郑和的将领，率领一支规模空前的船队七次远航西洋。第一次出发是在1405年，也就是哥伦布启程横渡大西洋的87年前。郑和的船队规模之大，远远超过后来欧洲探险家的想象——最大的宝船长达约120米，一次出航的船只多达两百余艘，随行人员将近三万人。

In the early 15th century, the Ming dynasty emperor sent a commander named Zheng He to lead an unprecedented fleet on seven voyages across the Western Seas. The first voyage set out in 1405, 87 years before Columbus's departure across the Atlantic. The scale of Zheng He's fleet far exceeded anything later European explorers could imagine, the largest "treasure ships" were said to stretch about 120 meters in length, with a single voyage involving over two hundred vessels and nearly thirty thousand crew members.

郑和的船队七次远航，最远抵达了非洲东海岸，途经东南亚、南亚、阿拉伯半岛等三十多个国家和地区，带去了丝绸、瓷器、茶叶，也带回了香料、珠宝与各国的使节。这场持续近三十年的远航，展示了当时明朝强大的航海实力，也是人类航海史上极为壮观的一段篇章。

Zheng He's fleet made seven voyages in total, reaching as far as the eastern coast of Africa, passing through more than thirty countries and regions across Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the Arabian Peninsula. They carried silk, porcelain, and tea, and brought back spices, jewels, and foreign envoys. Spanning nearly three decades, these voyages showcased the formidable maritime power of the Ming dynasty and remain one of the most spectacular chapters in the history of human seafaring.
