巴德尔的故事主要记载在《散文埃达》的《欺骗古鲁菲》部分，《诗体埃达》里的长诗《女巫的预言》也提到了他。在北欧神话里，巴德尔是光明与美好之神，他的故事被看作诸神黄昏到来之前最重要的预兆。

The story of Baldr is told mainly in the Gylfaginning, part of the Prose Edda, and he is also mentioned in the poem The Prophecy of the Seeress in the Poetic Edda. In Norse mythology Baldr is the god of light and beauty, and his story is seen as the most important sign before the coming of Ragnarok.

《散文埃达》里说，巴德尔美得发光，世上有一种最洁白的小花，就被叫作「巴德尔的眉毛」。这种开白花的野菊类植物在冰岛至今仍叫这个名字，北欧人用它来纪念这位光明之神。

The Prose Edda says Baldr was so beautiful that he shone, and that the whitest of all flowers was called Baldrs brow. In Iceland this white flowered wild daisy is still called by that name today, a way for people in the north to remember the god of light.
